The Modern Military

Everyone is familiar, especially during this time of
extended war, with the United States military. Most
people know the basics about the various branches. They
don't know, however, how these branches started or what
they do. Learning about the military's history is a
valuable lesson.

The military's job is to protect the citizens of this
nation. The Armed Forces have been strong traditionally in
the United States, protecting the nation when necessary
against enemy forces. Most Americans are very comfortable
that their military can protect them when needed.

The Navy, Army, Marines, and Air Force are the major
branches of the military. All four branches have deep
historical roots that go back more than a century.
Americans serve in this voluntary military as a way to
show their patriotism. Many people serve to protect
their country and its ideals.

When you join the military, you will learn about its
history. All branches have educational training about
the history of the military and what it has done in this
nation. The people who serve are able to get knowledge of
what makes our military great. They understand the
importance of tradition when it comes to our military
forces.

Many people are familiar with Vietnam and the Cold War
and believe our military did the best the soldiers could
to defend the nation. The World Wars, however, were
better examples of our military might. We fought
against bigger and better equipped enemies and came out
on top. The casualties in these wars were enormous.
The Armed Forces were able to show their might in
modern battle for the first time, and they did well.

The military used little technology when it first
started. Today, though, we have the latest weapons
available. We use assault rifles, missile guidance
systems, heavily armored tanks, and other equipment.
The military continues to research and learn about new
technologies. The military uses this technology to be
able to stop threats throughout the world.

The United States citizenry may be proud of our military,
but other countries have very impressive fleets. The
Chinese military is growing; Germany had a strong
military presence. All around the world, there are strong
troops ready to fight for their countries. Regardless of
a country's size, they will have some military presence,
making it that much more important to keep our troops at
top notch.

You can learn a lot by checking out the military's
history. When people look back on the United States
military in future times, they will see a mighty force
- one that defended a superpower. The military is an
organic organization. It grows and changes through the
years as needed to keep the nation safe. Regardless of
the leaders, though, soldiers do their jobs and protect
the nation.
